Hendrickson Announces Statehouse Run

ENFIELD—Bob Hendrickson, a member of the town’s Inland and Wetlands Commission, today announced his candidacy for the 58^th General Assembly District seat.

“I am excited to get into this race and campaign in the 58^th district. I feel compelled to join the effort to make our state a more affordable place to live and run a business,” Hendrickson said. “Our first amendment rights need to be considered in everything our government does. Standing up and protecting people’s rights versus taking power, is a fight I am energized to take on.”

Hendrickson, 56, will seek the nomination from local Republicans later this spring. He is a 15 year Enfield resident but has worked in town for nearly 40 years, most recently as store manager of the Enfield Shop Rite. Hendrickson and his wife, Kathie, have two grown children—one a social worker, the other an owner of a successful business.

“The legislature is slowly emerging from a period marked by real controversy, one that saw a majority of legislators provide the governor the broad power to run the state as he saw fit—including modifying or creating laws,” Hendrickson said. “As a consequence, our government has become less transparent and its policies and programs less responsive to the needs of our citizens.”

Hendrickson took aim at Arnone for his support of the controversial police accountability bill. “While this bill was intended to help communities feel safer it has had the opposite effect. We need to fix this bill and support our police and their efforts to protect our community.”

I’ve built my career talking to people, and I look forward to pouring that experience and passion into my grassroots campaign this spring, summer, and fall as I meet and listen to the residents of Enfield,” Hendrickson said.
